Police Commissioner Edward F. Davis (center) was on Wilcock Street this morning where a man was found dead. The body of a middle-aged man was found outdoors in Dorchester early this morning on a side street where residents had reported a drive-by shooting. The body of the man in his 40s was discovered at 6:45 a.m. in a driveway of 24 Wilcock St, a block off Blue Hill Avenue, south of Harambee Park. Police responded on Wednesday at 10:20 p.m. to a report of shots fired, according to Police Deputy Superintendent Thomas Lee. Police said the man was suffering from trauma, possibly a gunshot wound.“There is some ballistic evidence that’s been recovered,” Lee said. “We don’t know at this time if it is related” to a report of a shot fired in the area last night. A longtime resident of Wilcock Street said five people were standing outside in a cluster when a car drove by and opened fire. Residents had thought that everybody had escaped unharmed, said the resident, who asked not to be named out of concern for his personal safety.
“this story is one ill never forget.you always read or hear about killings due to senseless guns but when it hits you home is when your words are unexplainable.til this day i remember i got the call, seen the body, heard my grandmothers cries…..just can relive that moment like it was yesterday.
Day before my birthday is when my uncle was taken from us in a drive by shooting which left him dead in a yard behind his house…as he tried to run home.
Hard to mourn his death do to all the questions that are left unanswered.WHY? …..noone has answers for the nexts reckless acts to feel he could take a life. But as the years go by you stop asking all the whys. Its better to try and remember you know have an angel and to forever remember the good memories”
